NEW DIMENSIONS
New Dimensions Lifelong Learning Institute offers Grand Valley adults 50 and over the opportunity to enroll in a variety of non-credit classes focused on academic and personal enrichment.
"Night Crossings: the Iron Curtain (& other historic Border Walls)" presented by Ken Mabrey.
A variety of classes are presented each fall and winter/spring terms. Participants can enroll in any number of classes on a space available basis with a membership fee of $75 for each term in which they register.
Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to join regardless of race, creed, color, and/or educational level.
Classes meet in various locations and have diverse formats. Some may meet only once per term; others a number of times. Most meet during the daytime.
Courses involve no tests and no papers — simply learning for the joy of learning in a noncompetitive environment. Volunteer instructors are community members with advanced skills and knowledge in the subject they are teaching. They will maintain a balance of opinion and approach controversial subject with a neutral perspective. Courses are designed to encourage participation and to challenge one's thinking.
Course Offerings Classes reflect an academic focus featuring an array of disciplines such as history, science, philosophy, ethics, political science, art, literature, economics, current issues, nature study, and performing arts. We also offer classes that are active including social games, hikes, dancing, etc. New Dimensions members are encouraged to make suggestions for potential class topics and instructors. While some courses may be offered regularly, others may be changed, added or deleted from term to term.
